The aborigines of Australia believed that the kookaburra was put on earth to bring the dawn.* In this painting, the bird sits on a branch at first light, welcoming the new day. Behind him, the sky has been painted with many dots, a recurring motif in my paintings, but also a dominant motif in aboriginal Australian art.
